Davidson is named after Sir Walter Davidson who was a former Govenor of New South Wales.

A major community event held each year is the Borgnis Street Christmas lights display. Months of planning by residents culminates in one of the best Christmas light displays in Sydney. Together the residents and volunteers raise an incredible amount of money for charity with their magical displays. Thanks also go to the tireless members of the Davidson Rural Fire Service, Belrose Rotary Club and The Rotary Club of Frenchs Forest who gave up their time, night after night - rain, hail or shine. The brilliant results make a huge difference to the children and families that are cared for at Bear Cottage.
The Davidson Rural Fire Service was founded in 1950. The brigade fights bushfires, structure fires, car fires and attend motor vehicle accidents, conduct storm damage clean-up, search & rescue and fundraising. They are also actively engaged in community education such as attending fetes, hosting and visiting schools, Cubs, Scouts and Guides, Stewart House, Borgnis Street Christmas Lights display and assisting National Parks and Northern Beaches Council in regards to bush regeneration activities.
If you love bushwalking, Davidson offers many bush tracks with spectacular scenery such as the Cascades Trail. The Cascades are a series of small cascades (little waterfalls) in Garigal National Park. The cascades centre around a large rock platform on Middle Harbour Creek and are found in the northern section of the park, at the intersection of the Middle Harbour and Cascade Tracks. The cascades make a great spot to sit and rest when exploring the area. This 3km return walk starts in Stone Parade.
